2023 Water, Sewer & Drainage Bond Election

Early voting to be held on April 24, 2023 to May 2, 2023 (Fort Bend County times and locations).

What is Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 118?

Fort Bend County Municipal Utility District No. 118 is a 620.4474 acre entity that provides water, sewer, security, and drainage services in Waterside Estates, Sections 1 through 13, Waterside Village, Sections 1 through 3, Grand Mason at Waterside Apartments, Waterside at Mason Apartments and surrounding commercial developments and schools.

What is the purpose of the election on May 6, 2023?

The purpose of the bond election is to obtain voter approval for $14,255,000 in bonds to be issued in various increments over the next 10 years.  The bonds will pay for repair, rehabilitation and improvements to critical water, sewer and drainage infrastructure facilities in the District.

An additional proposition is included for the same amount for potential refunding of bonds, if issued, and the market interest rate for the bonds were to decrease to allow for a financial savings by the District.

Does the election mean that tax rates will increase in the District?

Future tax rates are based on circumstances impossible to predict.  However, the Board of Directors of the District is committed to maintaining the same level tax rate or reducing the District’s tax rate whenever possible.  The District’s total tax rate has stayed the same or decreased every year for the last 20 years.

What is the condition of the facilities?

The District’s water and sewer systems have aged and expensive repairs are necessary.  The funds to be authorized will be used for water well nos. 1, 2 & 3, wastewater treatment plant, lift station, and reclaimed water system improvements and rehabilitation.

When and where is the election?

Early voting will be held on April 24, 2023 through May 2, 2023 and Election day is Saturday, May 6, 2023 and voting will be held at all Fort Bend County polling locations.  Please visit the internet website http://www.fortbendvotes.org  to find polling locations and times of operation.   Anyone who is a registered voter residing in the District may vote in the election.
